Foods that provide vitamin D include:

Fatty fish, like tuna, mackerel, and salmon.
Foods fortified with vitamin D, like some dairy products, orange juice, soy milk, and cereals.
Beef liver.
Cheese.
Egg yolks.

Getting out in the sun every day when we were locked in our homes would’ve helped

It seems like this was common knowledge in February. I wonder why it has taken all this time for the medical community to figure it out?

More support for Vit D. Thanks. East Virginia Medical School says "while there is very limited data (and none specific for COVID-19), the following 'cocktail' may have a role in the prevention/mitigation of COVID-19 disease." ■ Vitamin D3 1000-4000 u/day ■ Vitamin C 500 mg BID* ■ Quercetin 250-500 mg BID ■ Zinc 75-100 mg/day ■ Melatonin (slow release): Begin with 0.3mg and increase as tolerated to 2 mg at night ■ Optional: Famotidine 20-40mg/day *BID means twice a day

Wow, what happened to the formatting? Here it is properly formatted:

■ Vitamin D3 1000-4000 u/day

■ Melatonin (slow release)**
■ Optional: Famotidine 20-40mg/day

**Begin with 0.3mg and increase as tolerated to 2 mg at night

This is almost identical to what Dr. Roger Seheult takes (and recommends) and he is on the front line treating COVID patients.

I’ve read that 3/4 of people are deficient in vitamin D. That’s for the very minimum level of 30ng/ml in blood. Many doctors recommend 50 or 60 ng/ml. It is tested with blood work. There’s even online test kits where you send in a small sample. Another study indicated that people who are not deficient in vitamin D have a nearly zero percent chance of death from the virus. I imagine there are people who would rather this information didn’t become too well known.

“The study also warned that 50% of Americans have a vitamin D deficiency, particularly noticeable in the Hispanic and African-American populations.”

The Sun is systemically racist. Obviously. So is milk.

This is really nothing new under the sun (pardon the pun).

It has been known for years that getting your Vitamin D is essential to overall good health and a strong immune system that helps to fight off the common cold (and many other viruses).

Exposure to sun (with no sunscreen) is the best way to get your daily allotment. However, those in northern latitudes need to understand that from about October to April, the angle of the sun is not sufficient to provide the vitamin D you need. So supplements are necessary. Probably 2,000 IU a day is enough for most.

You can also get vitamin D from natural food sources like fatty fish, egg yolks, and dairy products. But you will still need a D3 supplement or natural sunshine.

Would vitamin D3 supplements, vitamin C too, for tens of millions of artificial lighting US urbanites wipe out COVID-19 and flu season as we know it? (Big Pharma cannot afford to cure people.)

But then, partying Democratic elites would have to find something new to weaponize / demonize to stay in power.

Insights welcome.

Send “Orange Man Bad” federal and state government desperate Democrats home in November!

Supporting PDJT with a new patriot Congress and state government leaders that will promise to fully support his already excellent work for MAGA and stopping SARS-CoV-2 will effectively give fast-working Trump a “third term” in office imo.

I don’t see any problem with voting Republican ticket for 2020 elections.

Again, insights welcome.

I can personally vouch for vit D3. Been taking 5000 iu of it daily for years. Haven’t been sick, not even a cold. Flu shots? Forget it.

The best source of D3 is the pills that you get in the store. Yes, sunlight is the best natural source, and food can provide some, but that most dependable source for significant enough D3 to make a difference is purchased. Go to Sam’s or Costco and get 5,000 IU pills for about a nickel a pop. Note that as one gets older, the ability to absorb D from the Sun goes down.

I’ve been taking D3 for years, and was recently tested. The level of “normal” is 30 - 80, and I was at 68. I haven’t been sick for years, other than colds (and one bout of flu after I let myself get completely run down - and that year I had the vaccine...which together show the necessity of getting enough sleep).

Question: If the sun’s rays are strong enough to turn your skin “pink,” are they strong enough to produce vitamin D?
