I don’t if this will “fly,” but I’d love to see the aerospace/airline industries get back to innovation. In the 20 year span between say 1948 and 1968, things improved by leaps and bounds. And then stagnation. Commercial air travel has basically been stuck in the same place for more than 50 years.
Of course, I know that there have been technical improvements in avionics, autopilot etc, but from the passenger point of view how is flying now improved from 1970? Let me think. Coach & business class on some planes are much fancier with personal pods and makeshift beds, etc. And that does improve the experience if you can afford it.. What else? Smoking is banned, so no more being stuck next to an old lady and her Virginia Slims for a whole flight, I guess. Anything else? I’m running out here.
* I don’t *know* if this will fly...
Entertainment is better. The do not have to roll a movie projector out in the aisle anymore.
