I'm not a Mississippian, but I'm guessing a sign saying, "You should do XYZ, because people in New York City do it," is not going to be effective.

Of course, a sign saying, "You should do XYZ, because people in Mississippi do it," isn't going to work either. For that matter, a sign saying, "You should do XYZ, because people in New Jersey do it," won't work either.
