living a little further north I prefer the light in the evening. Otherwise in simmer it would draft getting light about 3:30 in the morning is d dark by 8. doesnt make a lot of sense to me but I agree. either way we need to pick one and stick with it. working in IT the time changes really mess with us
Hated it when I was a kid having to go to bed at 7:30 while the sun was still bright outside.
Doctors, stay in your cage. You screw up life too bad when your voice is too loud. (e.g. Drs. Fauci and Birx)
To be afraid of death is to be afraid of life. -from one of my Latino Freeper friends . . . much wisdom in that
I confess that I think DST is something that is no longer necessary, especially with the shrinkage of the world in general. It is a policy for a different time.
Plus, that extra hour of sunlight is bad for global warming..
The problem with DST all year is that later in the year the sun comes up fairly late in the day. When I was in high school in the ‘70s, one of President Nixon’s responses to the fuel shortages was to extend DST later in the year. I don’t remember if it was all year, but certainly well into November. I had to catch the bus at 7:10 and the stars were still out. That didn’t bother me, but I would be concerned with smaller children catching the bus or walking to school when it is still night. I don’t know if that would be true too if we had standard time all year, since I don’t have any experience with that.
That extra hour of sun every day causes global warming.
If everyone is staying home it isn't necessary. It's not as if kids are at the bus stop in the dark, or farmers can't farm when they want.
And farmers are going to farm when they need to regardless of what the clock says.
I will not post this to FB.
Here is the top link you get at the Smithsonian page on FB.
The Smithsonian link on “understanding systemic racism” is straight out of the Marxist BLM playbook.
If I post on FB the Smithsonian article you posted, that WILL lead to some being led to Smithsonian’s FB page and from there to the Marxist BLM crap the Smithsonian is supporting.
Just move the damn clock a half hour and leave it there, sheesh!
Keep daylight savings time all year.
Either way, people adjust withing 2-3 days. It’s not that big of a deal.
Next up to control everyone will be a lot of BS on traveling- NY to LA = 3 hrs - Heavens to Betsy how will anyone ever be able to adjust to 3 hr difference if one cannot handle 1 hr twice a year? Only important to Drama Queens.
I live in S Florida and I am close to the ocean. I see the scope of the sunrises from the S to the N and back S again. I rarely miss an ocean sunrise. I believe DST makes a huge, positive difference in the lives of S. Floridians. It may negatively affect seasonal/vacationers who think they want to eat outside in February. They are not my priority or quality of life issues.
Of course this would be from you!
I hate having my sleep messed with. The older I get, the more difficult it is to adjust to DST.
Ditto
I used to live in Margate in the late 70s...........

It seems to me that the stars being out as kids waited for buses is a problem either way. Ive watched for it, especially when my kids were that young.
So it should be abolished. This is far more important that Covid, riots and elections!
