There used to be a very famous restaurant in DC, near the corner of Conn. Ave. and L Street, frequented by politicians, sports figures, everybody ‘famous’ in DC. They had wonderful pickles. This person has tried to re-create them:

Wow. That sounds easy. But is that 1/4 cup of vinegar right? That seems like so little. Next time I get to where I can get some mini cucumbers, I’m going to try it. I like a good dill pickle. I’ll go ahead and put the black tea bag in the jar, though, because I know it makes really crunchy pickles!

From the Washingtonian article....

Used to work out in evenings at the gym right next to Duke's...got to see quite a few movers and shakers coming and going. Was surprised to see how short and roly-poly Art Buchwald was, my favorite humor columnist.
