I need FR's professional input: do I fill out the census? They've been banging down my door. I've ignored it in the past and they left me alone.
What's anyone's take on it
Do you think that filling out a census form will somehow turn a blue state red? Nope. Thats done at the ballot box.
> So that's what you are all about? Leaning Left, actually? <
Okay. You actually made me smile at that one. I could think of 20 legitimate ways to criticize me. And my ex-wife could probably come up with 20 more. But a criticism based solely on my FR screen name? I dont think even my ex-wife would play that card.
P.S. I will not, however, get too upset with you. Because I do like your beer.
Constitution authorizes a census to enumerate residents.
Give the number of residents at your address for the indicated date.
Thats it. Anything else, they can get a warrant for per 4th amendment.
I’m in a blue part of a red state (FLA)
*** “I put American for race” ***
Filling out my Jury Duty questionnaire for Race I checked “Other” and wrote in “Human” ... Judge liked it as did the DA and I ended up with 6 months of Grand Jury Duty
I did it online. There were only a few questions. It’s very short.
As one who has lived in blue states most of my life (and also a consumer of Samuel Adams beer), I always hold out hope that my state will someday turn red.
As a Connecticut resident these days, hope springs eternal that Trump will carry the Nutmeg State this November.
I didnt fill it out. But last week I was caught off guard by the doorbell. I answered the door. He said he was from the census. I said, you caught me. Lol.
Other then that you are not required to tell them anything.
That’s the best thing you can do. Why do they “need” my birthday? Hell no.
The Census Bureau says that the personal information community members submit will not be shared with other government agencies. Instead, the Census Bureau breaks this personal data down into statistics that cannot be used to identify or find a specific individual. The faceless data is then used by private and public entities to research and prepare for major decisions, such as where to build a school or where to invest, as well as smaller decisions, such as what products are sold in grocery store chains. Don’t believe a word of this *hit.
lol
You can do it without giving personal info.
We did ours online.
The census is one of the few Enumerated obligations of the federal government in the Constitution.
Hey, at least she had a job!
I was hired as a Decennial Enumerator by the U.S. Department of Commerce for the 2020 Census and went through the training program and the background check. I am currently in the field door knocking 20 hours per week. Feel free to ask me any questions.
If you are in a blue state, fill it out but say no one lives there. This screws the state out of representation.

What is the average life expectancy of a common housefly.
Just do it. It's part of our constitutional law and a basic part of civilization since biblical times.
We are so rushed right now that I have filled out many with no personal info - not even names. Just based on neighbors "proxy" info. giving us a household count. I also leave the sheet and hope the household calls it in or files online but we have to clear the cases asap. The population count is the most important thing right now.
For other posters here - if you don't hear back and they stop coming to your door it is probably b/c your neighbors gave up the info.
In 72 years the 2020 census will be released to the public. If you don't fill it out your descendants will not be able to find you... don't let that happen! :)
If you live in a blue state, and you fill it out, you’re one more number to help that state get more representation and money.
