Just sticking my nose in/bookmarking. Never seen the monthly threads before...
Long-time knitter with beginner-level skills. Worked at Michaels for 14 years.
An early attempt to post a photo. It worked yesterday?
I think the photo is at this address? https://pasteboard.co/JpefLzB.jpg

A failed attempt at posting photos of my anorak made from old heavy wool blankets.
The sewing is much easier than the photo posting.
One is the inside of the anorak, mostly simple straight seams.

The second photo... I was on a roll and did not want to take the time to visit my sewing partner and use her Singer Model 29, a long thin freearm with a rotating presser foot.
So, I first made a practice run on a heavy flannel shirt; not easy but doable...Most have heard of ‘Stitching in a ditch’, this was more like stitching in a small drain pipe.
Because of the weight of the wool, it did not roll up like the flannel. I used black thread to help me see where it was going. Not pretty and I will not take the seam ripper to it! Happy I didn’t sew a finger or two.
This link work MIGHT work?

I’m having fun and it is going well.
Thanks for this thread. I was off work for a few days, and got to sew a little, but nothing too ambitious.
For any who sew, Walmart has some AMAZING pre-cuts that are dirt-cheap, and good quality. I picked up 5 pieces in the past couple weeks. These are like $2 for a huge 2 yard X 60” wide piece. Always prewash. They also have quite an assortment of fat quarters ($1.47 each), which worked for 4 child-size masks each, and are also great for trim, such as contrasting bias trim for other projects.
I sewed a basic, elastic waist skirt for 9 year old granddaughter, then a patterned sweater-knit was made into a coordinating vest with the skirt fabric as a lining. She will see/receive these on Saturday. Hoping she likes them. I kept looking at the vest, and think I messed up somewhat. The pattern has the armholes finished with bias binding, so you would essentially have no seam allowance. The way I made it, with the 2 layers, I (dumbly) finished the armholes with self-binding of the sweater knit, which turned out very nice, except, they are big, as I used up 5/8” all the way around, and should have bound them without assuming the 5/8” seam allowance. OH WELL. If I make it again, lesson learned.
My sister has just finished a fascinating garment, called a “bog coat”, and I am thinking that one of the Walmart fabrics I got would work for a “bog coat” for the 9 year old. Kind of a top layering piece, a little more shape than a kimono.
Also made a few more masks, both for the granddaughters and for myself and husband.
Have two more projects in mind for work attire tops for myself, but need to get some more inspiration/motivation, before going ahead on those.
This was my first attempt at stranded knitting. The first couple of hats were pretty wobbly and tight, but I got the hang of it as I made more. They are worsted weight (I used Cascade 220 Superwash.)
