A groundbreaking new study commissioned by Revolver News concludes that COVID-19 lockdowns are ten times more deadly than the actual COVID-19 virus in terms of years of life lost by American citizens.
Up until this point there had been no simple, rigorous analysis that accurately and definitively conveys the true costs of the COVID-19 lockdowns. Accordingly, Revolver News set out to commission a study to do precisely that: to finally quantify the net damage of the lockdowns in terms of a metric known as life-years. Simply put, we have drawn upon existing economic studies on the health effects of unemployment to calculate an estimate of how many years of life will have been lost due to the lockdowns in the United States, and have weighed this against an estimate of how many years of life will have been saved by the lockdowns. The results are nothing short of staggering, and suggest that the lockdowns will end up costing Americans over 10 times as many years of life as they will save from the virus itself.
The COVID-19 lockdown measures that Americans have had to endure for the greater part of 2020 represent one of the most dramatic, consequential, and damaging policy measures undertaken in this nations history. For the first time in its history, America has experienced a situation so crippling and perilous that long term financial and social stability have been legitimately threatened.

Democrat Presidential candidate Joe Biden indicating that he is willing to impose further lockdowns if scientists tell him to. It is unclear which scientists Joe Biden would be listening to, as there is no consensus among scientists and experts as to whether or not lockdowns are worth the staggering costs they impose on the common man.
All that to (possibly) save the lives of a few 85 year olds.
we need a gomer pyle alert here
What is the reader circulation of Revolver? Will this study ever be seen by any wider audience?
The term “lockdown” was prison jargon before 2020.
At this point - 6. months into it , theres no question about it !!!
how can any business survive when the government says you must close and were not gonna ever tell you when you can re-open ????
and when you do reopen , when we let you , youre going to have draconian rules you cant follow , and health inspector showing up 10 times a week to give you a new set of rules!
No even though I didnt think it was gonna be this bad in would be continuing here and August but you will notice that is only democratic states
I live in California , which is one of the most severely democratic states , and of course the lockdowns here are utter and severe - who knows when bars are going to be able to open again ???
In addition theyre cracking down on churches in LA ; theyre trying to stop parties from happening and sending the Gestapo
in so its kind of stunning and amazing to watch the predictions come true and there are even worse than I thought!!!
No as usual its up to brain dead moronic Democrats to figure out that their party is pure , evil communist assholes - and they must get rid of them!
Talk to everyone now! I just went to Marshall’s this noon and asked the 2 young people who were the “mask monitors” at the doors- “How long are you willing to do this- wear the masks and monitor everyone? One year? 2 years?” And the young woman was a little flustered and was not sure and the young man said 2 years. He said until the virus goes away and I reminded him that the flue has never gone away and the common cold has not. And don’t you think we have to learn to live with this? We must talk to people and cause them to think! How long are you willing to live like this?
Thats great!
I will start doing that.
Outstanding post! Looks like a very good study. I’m about half way through. Measuring impact as changes in “Life Years” makes more sense than any other analysis I’ve seen.
Results?
18 million life years lost from shutdowns.
1.8 million life years saved.
(And the life years saved is very high end estimate. More like 1/3 of it because highly comorbid people don’t live very long in the first place)
It was bad policy, rotten. To the folks that say, “180,000 lives lost!!!,” this is the proper response. We lost more life years than saved. Not even close.
Great post.
Thanks Basket!
I didnt get a lot of responses on this post but your response made it worthwhile.
I hope more read it and digested it.
Yes, it was a bad policy
