American Driving through Canada to Alaska Facing $569,000 Fine for Stopping to Sightsee

We drove up the Alcan Highway to Alaska and worked down to the Pacfic Coast Highway to San Francisco.

Taking most of August with my wife our two kids and the dog in a Suburban, Best vacation ever!

Even though we took the Cassiar shortcut, sixty miles of DEEP mud... Still the best!

Thinking I will no longer recommending the Alcan.

The Canadians might have a good idea and that is a half million dollar fine for border violations. For the United States, that would end illegal immigration if each illegal alien were fined a a half million dollars.

Years ago I had regular business in Canada. I've crossed the border many times.

First rule: Canada is not the United States. Think the worst aspects of California and New York combined and then put on steroids. They don't play games. They take their nanny state very seriously.
