A wild, totally out of control ex-con was shot dead after he crashed his car into a fence, tried to climb onboard a school bus, jumped on two cars and then broke into a house, a Florida sheriff said.
The bizarre incident happened just before dawn Friday morning in Polk City.
The man who killed Mayson Armando Ortiz-Vazquez, 45, of Orlando, acted to protect his family, including his 9-year-old child, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said, according to the Lakeland Ledger.
They were trying to control him inside the house, Judd said, according to the paper. He grabbed the glass that didnt break when he broke in and threw it at the homeowner. And that is when they shot him, and he went down.
Ortiz-Vazquez went to Polk City to buy drugs, according to the paper.
This has meth written all over it, Judd said, the paper reported. At 6:10 this morning, he goes totally wild, totally out of control. Very dangerous and he does a home invasion. This was a very frightening event today.
The sheriff hailed the school bus driver as a hero. She had just picked up a child when she encountered Ortiz-Vazquez.
She kept the doors locked and didnt let him in when he ran up to the vehicle, Judd said, the Ledger reported.
She was frightened but remained calm, as she refused to open the doors and motioned to Ortiz-Vazquez to get away from the bus.
She then used her radio to call her dispatcher, who alerted law enforcement, school officials said.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd has message for criminals wanting to wreak havoc in Polk County.
The deceased.
Good for the cops! Perhaps an award for saving the taxpayers a lot of money might be in order.
When I was in college, I was in the living room of our fraternity house and a guy from next door stormed in uninvited, ranting and screaming, then he jumped on me and sank his teeth into my shoulder. It happened so fast I didn’t even react. This was around 1971, pre-meth days, but he sure was a doped-up psychotic. My frat brother wrestled him off of me (which was tough to do) and threw him out the front door.
Here it is 50 years later and I still remember that encounter with the drugged-up psycho.
I have a lot of sympathy for the police having to deal with people like that (and there are a LOT of them out there these days).
“And that is when they shot him, and he went down.”
Gun Control at its finest.
Good lesson for the nine year old. Don’t do drugs.
There better not be charges by the DA on this homeowner.
Polk County Sheriff claims he’s “Pro 2nd”.
George Floyd was one of them- He wasn’t exactly too violent, but while he was dying of the drugs, he was unhinged, ranting, incoherent at times, agitated, which very easily could have turned into violence at any moment- He was acting very strange according to the store clerk that called the cops on him-
And all this destruction death and looting and burning and assaults, and violence erupting in America for MONTHS now, because a drug addled man died of an overdose in police custody
Over $500 MILLION dollars worth of destruction so far, and countless lives ruined forever because of the violence all based on a lie-
So many of these types around these days! Made me think of this...
“These men are like irrational animals, creatures of instinct, born to be captured and destroyed.”2 Peter 2:12
Sorry that happened to you!
I notice people at my gym. You can call it people watching so to speak.
A lot of folks are off their meds these days. A LOT!
It was the homeowner who shot him.
Lol. Grady Judd is a legend. I started reading this, got to Polk County, & knew the outcome.
Adios, ***hole.
L
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Dude gets up the day before (probably) and decides to get on a meth binger and says than Ill have some far out fun! Tsk, tsk goes to show its important as to how you choose how to end your life. Friggin looser...could riddance!
Not a chance in Polk County. The DA would be run out of town.
Is this POS going to be a martyr?
Give her the award, then.
Ortiz-Vazquez? Not a chance!
