The Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers, led by superstar LeBron James, reportedly voted to boycott the rest of the NBA playoffs.
According to Shams Charania, lead NBA writer for The Athletic, James walked out of a hastily-called players meeting when other team representatives said they would not join.
However, Mr. Charania reported, other players realize that even if just those two teams boycott the season, enormous problems would be created in finishing the playoffs.
Sources: Miamis Udonis Haslem spoke and essentially told everyone in room that without Lakers and Clippers, how will season continue? LeBron James walked out. Rest of Lakers and Clippers exited behind him, Mr. Charania wrote.
The Lakers and Clippers were the two best teams in the Western Conference during the regular season and were poised to win their first-round series in the next day or two.
However, all three of Wednesdays playoff games were cancelled after the teams, led by the Milwaukee Bucks, refused to play because of the police shooting of a Black man in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
As a result, the players on all the teams in the bubble in Orlando, Florida, held a meeting Wednesday evening to discuss the next move.
According to Mr. Charania, James wants more social activism from the owners, who already have gone in hard in supporting Black Lives Matter and other left-leaning protest groups.
LeBron James said in meeting he want owners to be more involved/take action, Mr. Charania wrote.
He also reported that players on others teams who opposed boycotting the rest of the season thought the Bucks had put them in an awkward position without advance notice.

Gaurenteed contracts. Get the money and stay at the mansion in the gated community while you cry about being oppressed.
Once again proving how clueless they are. Now they’ve PO’d the last of the diehard fans, too.
Basketball could disappear completely and hardly anybody would notice.
NFL - $13 billion - 267 matches
NBA - $4.8 billion - 1,312 matches
Do they get paid?
Are they putting their money where their mouths are?
Every single day was nonsense.
Only good days on the courts were mostly White with a couple older Black males (30-50 y/o)
So this is a first. People boycotting themselves.
You can see a car lot: “No, I’m going to punish you by NOT selling you a car.”
Allllrighty then.
The best response that I can muster is: “Who f**king cares?”
that's why he wants to bail.
Who the hell cares!
Lebrainless... Haha!
That’s great! I love it!
An ESPN person, whom I had not known of previously, demonstrated why ESPN has now become far better known for politics than for sports. She called out the NHL for being the only sport that failed to stop to honor the Kenosha Riot. I, speaking for myself, raise a single finger to her. I invite all to guess which finger!
The players calling it a boycott does not make it one. They are withholding their labor, not their money - the action is a strike.
My cousin works for Fox Sports. He has had a rough time this year.
Cowards...every last one of them.
Hope their paychecks are boycotted.
Cancel everything
America to NBA: “How can we miss you if you wont go away?”
Oh, that’ll really hurt us, won’t it?
I think something funny would be for the owners to NOT renew their next players contract and contract with a hiring firm who holds a lottery in each city and picks 12 regular guys for 1 week from that city. Then each week 12 new players play. That way when OKC plays NY it really will be OKC vs NY, KInd of like the old old days.
