now this is stupid. It was the hispanics who insisted we all use ‘people of color’ to describe minorities and the blacks bought into it 100%. So if we say ‘colored people’ instead of ‘people of color’ it’s racist? seems awful nitpicky
The left and “people of color” went through a series or terms (Afro-American, African-American, etc.) before settling on “Black.” White Southerners referred to “colored people,” so the was out. People should be referred to by the term they like, anyway. The NAACP referred to “people of color” so that was in. Whatever, I don’t mind being called “white” or Caucasian, even though I had a great grandmother that had “a touch of the tar brush.”
