A controversial political sign that is currently standing in Shohola will continue to do so for the time being. The sign is located on a property alongside U.S. Route 6.
The sign has been put up to show support for President Donald Trumps re-election efforts in the 2020 Presidential Election. What makes the sign controversial is that it uses an expletive in its phrasing. [ ]
The sign was a topic on the agenda for the Shohola Township meeting that occurred on the night of Thursday, August 13. Supervisors for the township say that they have been inundated with complaints about the sign, mostly having to do with the profane nature of the language that is on it.
The sign, which is mounted high above the road, says Trump 2020 **** Your Feelings.
Despite members of the public wanting the township to step in and have the sign taken down, the supervisors say that there isnt much they can do about it. Township Solicitor Jason Ohliger said that despite the offensiveness of the signs language, it is legally protected by the United States Constitution.
