I see. Thanks.
You’re prolly right, but it’s always been lock and load, and you won’t change it. Army Basic Training.
I can still hear the range officer on the rifle range when we were given permission to fire one round: “Lock one round ball ammunition, load. Lock and load”.
Boot Camp was the only
time I shot an AR platform.
Damn Long time ago!
Actually the “lock” part refers to old black powder firearms that had a half cock position (locked) where it was supposed to be safe to then load your firearm. I say supposed to be safe because that’s where the term “going off half cocked” came from.
Come see us at the Lebanon Gun Shop. We’ll show you what it’s like to buy a gun in a free state.
“I just bought my first gun last week-end, and had my first gun lesson yesterday.”
Wa-HOOO! Proud of ya! :)
However as a military drill and command it is generally in modern times referenced to the M1 Garand rifle. Unlike magazine fed rifles the bolt had to be locked back in order to load. This according to my father Marine Corp Master Gunnery Sergeant and Camp Pendleton drill instructor after the Korean War. He trained many Marines that ended up fighting in Vietnam carrying M1's and M-14's before going to the M16.
My only problem with 40+ guns is which ones to take to the range each time or how many. The Garand is still my favorite to shoot hi power ---ping---.
Secondly, I was BORN ready!
Lastly. It certainly doesn't hurt to have both of THESE in your Bug Out Bag, either:
it’s becoming necessary...
Lock the mag into the receiver first.
Then load a round.
OK?
LOL.
5.56mm
The M1 rifle is every one’s favorite. It’s a man-sized rifle.
Got it!
Now to get my butt
“Locked and Loaded!”
Anything can be a weapon.
Okay,black powder is a Fav!
.
How about;
Lock,Stock and Barrel.
More Cap and Ball,correct?
You can be very comfortable with an AR type or a Ruger mini 14. Fire them both and figure out what works for you.
I like the Ruger Mini 14 and the PC-9.
If I had my druthers, I would like to have a M-60, but you know....
Yep. The lock referred to the hammer/trigger mechanism, the stock and barrel of the firearm. Essentially the whole rifle.
I have several of those knives. I will not be bugging out. I live in the boonies and figure my best chance is hunkering down and living or dying with the consequences.
It’s baffled me Why the
Mini is priced so high.
It’s accuracy was
A big issue.
