Will people only be donating plasma? Or will they be donating whole blood and the plasma extracted out? Are the remaining elements, particularly the red blood cells, useful as transfusions for people who have suffered blood loss (due to surgery, childbirth, or, I don’t know, being shot or beaten up in riot) or is the whole blood needed?
I wonder if the announcement about the convalescent blood plasma isn’t also a way to get more blood donations in anticipation of more violence.
