Uber and Lyft are preparing to suspend their ride-hailing services in California beginning on Friday morning unless an appeals court rules at the last minute they cannot be forced to treat their drivers as employees, rather than independent contractors.
Lyft in a blog post on Thursday said it would suspend its California operations at midnight. Uber in a blog post said it would have to temporarily shut down unless the appeals court intervenes.

I always expected low margins, high debt or other new internet-based competition to take down Uber and Lyft.
Stupid, meddling, corrupt socialists was always a possibility, but it was further down my list.
My lesson is: Never underestimate the destruction that a regressive can cause!
I think about typical leftist pandering.
50,000 workers, completely outside their massive political plantation of punishments and incentives is too much to bear. it had to be addressed.
The peasants will not need cars and after 18 hours a day at a people’s collective farm or factory, they will be too tired.

This is due to the disastrous AB5 law. Biden wants to take it national with the Pro Act.
Most drivers work for Lyft to earn extra money. They like the independence of choosing what hours they want to work exc..
It's a great service, runs efficiently, and both the employees, and the public, enjoy it.
So naturally the government has to barge in with its big Jack Boot and destroy it. 😒
I used Uber maybe a half-dozen times on my last trip to California. The app told me the make/model/license number of the car picking me up. The car was clean, the driver polite, and his GPS got me exactly where I wanted to go. I knew the price before I got into the car. I was very impressed.
My granddaughter in San Diego uses it when she goes to events downtown to save her the hassle of finding a parking place near where she’s headed. I don’t think she’d be happy losing the service.
I saw many cars with both Uber and Lyft stickers. It might not be a big money maker for drivers, but none appeared to be forced into the job.
Now they have millions of slaves in the cities with no means of movement except taxicabs and public transportation. Which the Powers That Be can shut down at any time it suits them.
Yep!! Pro Union...carp.
