If 275 miles of a 1954-mile border have been built, that is 14% of the border.
But look at the title of the page and then the map, which makes it appear as if more than half the border has been blessed with newly built “wall”.
I’m sure it is secure. I can see burying in the ground could be problematic in that if a piece is sawn through, the part that is underground would have to be pulled out somehow. If, as I understand the construction, each rod is filled with cement and so any broken pieces are too heavy to lift with a magnet.
There probably is a foundation in the ground that the wall attaches to, so each section can be taken down and replaced as necessary.

Trump promise 450 miles by December. That’s about 1/4 of what needs to be built.
We can’t build a wall all the way across, because not all of the topography is favorable to a wall. We just want enough so that it makes the border patrol much more manageable.

Look at the read lines on the map: it makes it appear as if we have already built a new wall across a majority of the US and Mexico border.
That is fundamentally misleading.
Some of the wall existed and they left it in place.
Trump built 275 miles some of the wall was already in place and deemed acceptable to the parameters, which helps in the construction.
The red is probably what they are building, with much of it incomplete so far.
