18,000 people sign petition to remove Netflix film which ‘sexualises children’

There’s a petition going round asking for the removal of the new film “Cuties” from Netflix, saying it over sexualises children.
The film, which is due to be released on September 9th, is about a young girl who tries to escape her tough family life by joining and competing with a dance troop of girls her age. The synopsis for it reads: “Amy, 11, becomes fascinated with a twerking dance crew. Hoping to join them, she starts to explore her femininity, defying her family’s traditions.”
However the film is already receiving backlash, with people are calling it “sick” and saying they would like to “have a word” with Netflix, which must have “lost its mind”. A petition calling for it to be cancelled before it’s even reached the site has got over 18,000 signatures.
