Gregg Popovich’s Spurs Have Struggled Since He Became Anti-Trump
Game 7 ^ | August 18, 2020 | Anthony Amador

Gregg Popovich is fresh off the worst head coaching season of his career. The San Antonio Spurs finished 2020 with a .451 winning percentage and failed to make the postseason. It marked the first time in 23 years that the franchise missed the playoffs.

The only year in which Popovich ever finished with a worse winning percentage was 1996-97, and that was the season he took over a Spurs team that was without injured center David Robinson.

That same offseason Popovich drafted Tim Duncan. Two years later he would win his first NBA Championship. Over the next two decades, he went on to win four more.

While it is obviously not the sole reason for his troubles, it is hard to ignore the fact that Popovich’s issues seem to coincide with his ramped up anti-Trump political talk.

Yup,, it was before the election when he came out and supported HRC,, that’s when he insulted in a hating manor anyone who supported Trump. He screwed that franchise good, and if i were the spurs I’d sue his ass... I live in San Antonio and most of my friends and people i know are like, Bye Felicia,, their season tickets fell off, they sold the women’s basketball team,, It’s hard to stomach listening to that old white dude tell me i need to be made to feel uncomfortable while he is sitting down in his 3 story win cellar. what a joke,,It honestly sounds like he is complaining about how he is when he talks about politics.

The whole nba should fold...then they can learn to code or be stocking boys for the tall supermarket shelves...

I'm confused... Did he just have his worst year, or was it actually not his worst year? Do sports 'journalists' even go to school for writing ability? Would it even help?

I definitely would have to agree on that. I think the same goes for coaches like Pat Riley, Scotty Bowman or even Casey Stengel. All of them were great in their own way, but all 3 teams had massive amounts of great talents on thier rosters at any given moment.
