Abbott demanded last week for Texas residents to wear masks at all times, even if they are in their own backyards, to stop the spread of COVID-19. “People need to understand that until we have better medications that can treat COVID-19, until we have the vaccines that will end COVID-19, people must maintain vigilance, even when just gathering with family members, to make sure you do continue to wear masks,” he added.

Airborne means it travels in droplets smaller than 5um. There’s some limited evidence suggesting that SARS-CoV-2 could spread that way (just like there’s some evidence it could spread via fomites), but all current evidence points to respiratory droplets (which are >5-10um) being the primary transmission vector.

The virus stats for texas posted yesterday say no masks needed. Deaths compared to active cases showed a percentage of six tenths of one percent. Deaths compared to population was .ooo1. What do we need masks for? We are all in training to do exactly what the government tells us to do without question.

Did he bother to read the label on that box of masks? It is not intended to prevent the wearer from getting any disease. They do not make you safe. Their is only a slightly deceased risk that you might infect others.
They won’t protect you, but they are a petri dish for bacterial infection and could kill you. More people are dying of bacterial pneumonia right now than Covid 19.

This is the one downside to a vaccine being in the works. It changes the end game logic from “let’s let the virus run its course and develop herd immunity and maybe do some curve flattening if need be” to “let’s hunker down and avoid all cases until the vaccine arrives.”
