Now, he’s a civilian — and feels free to take the action he so wanted to do as a police employee.

That’s how I interpreted it.

Not only is he relieved, his conscience and moral compass are no longer under assault by a corrupt city and its thankless residents.

He’s outta there!

Nope on the easy transfer of retirement credit out of state. Likely to be limits plus new vesting requirements on years or points needed to fully qualify. In state between different departments might be easier if it is a state-level retirement system. If each municipality has its own, then it gets complicated.

"Reasonable people should relocate,..."

No, they shouldn't - they should get themselves elected to their city government. Time we started taking over.

I worked around lots of liberals so their bizarre, irrational and self-destructive behavior doesn’t surprise me that much. They are simply wired differently. They live in a fantasy world of no consequences. They are immune to facts, logic and the lessons of history.

Trying to understand, work with or compromise with liberals is an exercise in complete futility. Until Republicans accept that reality nothing will change. We need to force THEM to come to us with concessions. Right now, there is no reason for them to do that because they feel they have the upper hand. We have to show them otherwise.

The brother of a friend of mine is resigning from the police department just shy of qualifying for the pension. He said he is fed up and refuses to put up with it any more. He is in Illinois.

He can get a job in a place run by normal humans instead of democrats.

I mourn for these good citizens, these men and women who are constantly abused, ridiculed, lied about, etc. They overwhelmingly do an excellent job under extremely stressful conditions. They protect those who hate them. How long could any decent person exist under these conditions? We are going to experience very bad things as a society if our good police keep resigning. Who will take their spot? Let your imagination and knowledge of history answer this question....it’s not a good scene we are being set up for.

I suspect that, as McConnel suggested, the law will changed at some point to allow states to file bankruptcy. Illinois will be one of the first candidates, and all those pension plans will go out the window, leaving the retirees with no more that what the PBGC gives them.

The officer feels the great relief of having made the decision to remove to a civilized place, where he can watch Seattle become Mogadishu, with no tax base, and the scum feeding on each other. The Seattle public voted for this, so they own it (collectively of course, comrade). I hope the cop makes his 2 months without injury.

Government pensions need to be phased out, and replaced with 401K plans. The politicians have demonstrated they cannot be trusted with that level of money.

“Let it all burn, he’s done with them.”

I can’t blame him. Why risk your neck for people who don’t appreciate it, won’t back you up, and will gladly throw you to the wolves at the first sign of trouble?

“One has to get all the way out of town.”

One interesting aspect of covid is that companies have been forced to go to remote workers, and they are finding that in most cases it works out just fine. This could not come at a worse time for big cities.

That is another aspect of the killing off of the big Democrat Cities by the Big City Democrats.
