I see it constantly. People with masks on alone in their cars with the windows rolled up. Couples who sleep together at night wearing masks next to each other by day.
It boggles the mind. The level of stupidity is impressive.
I think people forget they’re on, or just find it easier to leave on since they’re headed to another place where one will be required.
A coworker’s son was riding shotgun in a car with a friend of his the other day. Son runs his window down for some air. Friend immediately closes it. Son says “WTF”? Friend says “Because of covid. My mom says blah, blah, blah.”
Friend got home and told his mommy how the coworker’s son had let dirty, poisonous, covid-laden air into their car. Friend is now banned from seeing son (friends since they were little kids) by psychomom.
Friend and son are both 18-19 years old, small-town guys.
I told my coworker that his son is better off in the long run not hanging out with a nutjob who lets his nutjob mother control his mind when she’s not even present. He agreed.
Well, that one, under certain circumstances is easily explainable. If one is hitting multiple stores in a row, PROPER donning and removal of a mask, sanitizing (re-sanitizing) one's hands, etc., after each exit, takes time. Moreover it creates a need for more masks to be washed, purchased (in the case of the cheapy types), etc. If I go to, say, 4 places on a supply run, and all are within 15 minutes of each other, I just leave my N95 on the whole time. It's less comfortable, but not as discomforting as push mowing on a warm day. And I do that often, too. It's good for me! No gym membership needed - just the mower, gas, and decent quality work shoes. A rake if I waited too long to get to the job. Hahaha!
Now the couples thing - if said couple is near no one else, and something like the above does not apply, that's pretty crazy. OTOH, how are YOU sure they are sleeping together @ night? ;-)
