Well im moving back to the reservation soon. Gonna have to see if I can set up some preps. Running water and utilities and satelite service avaiable,
We have a clean unused outhouse just in case but it has black widows there.
I hated to have to go sit at night 'up there'. One night I kept hearing a hissing sound, under me. After the paper works was finished I rushed out into the gaze of a very long coakwhip snake, stretched up to over my head. Poor thing was 'down there' looking for whatever and couldn't get out because I was sitting on the entry. Being a boy, the though of that snake right below my cajones made me shudder. Never went at night again without first holding the candle over the hole.
We had to use an outhouse long enough in my youth that we had to move it to new holes three times. Always had a bucket of lime and a coffee can dipper, to toss a dose onto the 'pile down below'.
I loved my childhood in the country, cold spring water, a lake to bath and fish in, good foods from the garden, squirrels and rabbits a plenty, and plenty of uncluttered unoccupied room to roam.
