Cookware Recommendation
15 August, 2020 | HTM

FReepers, it’s time to purchase a new cookware set. My current non-stick pan is chipping.

I have lodge cast iron pans for occasional use, but would like an everyday non-stick pan.

Any suggestions?

I use my Lodge cast iron almost daily. Perfect non stick pan.

"You got T-Fal?"

"Calphalon."

It all depends on what you're cooking.

I also have some “Magnlite” pots that have held up great.

We call ours “Mag not lite“ because it’s anything but. LOL

Calphalon is highly rated/used by professional chefs.

See their Anodized non-stick (no teflon) cookware sets and individual items.... at... WalMart. Was amazed Wally world carries this.

AllClad is another fine brand, again Anodized non-stick surface.

Personal experience with Calphalon (purchased from a restaurant supplier), and with Anodized non-stick smaller pans from:

Cuisinart (excellent little 10 inch pan) and
Kitchen Aid— 12 or 14” pan that has lasted 8 years plus continuous use (mostly as meat prep/sauces pan).

The best has been the Calphalon.

If budget is the issue-— good reviews (and can find them sometimes at an Ollie’s discount store— is Tramontina (the non-stick surface is a white kind of proprietary ceramic).

I figured that they were just a typical “as seen on TV” scam, but about a year ago, I bought A Copper Chef deep square frying / grilling pan anyway when I needed to replace my large ‘non-stick’ frying pan... Turns out, I love it. Cooks well, stovetop or oven and cleans easily, and the surface seems quite durable.. Bought another smaller regular frying pan without the ridges in the bottom, and like it just fine too.

I don’t cook much, but if I did, I’d buy a whole set of the Copper Chef line.

I really, really adore the copper nonstick......as seen on tv cookware. I have a saute/ fry pan & a large copper deep pan w/ a lid that I use for everything. They clean up in seconds & can go into the oven too. I cook a lot & I love them.

I love hearing people’s cast iron stories. Never had luck with them.

These are great:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0170TFNXM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I’ve had them 13 months now and use them every day. No problems and they do a great job.

I’ve used All Clad pots and pans for a long time. I love them. And don’t go with carbon steel. They’re liable to rust on you.

Bought my folks a Costco stainless set...$200
Best pans I have ever had my hands on, very heavy, almost too heavy.
I only use a coated pan for fried eggs, everything else is iron or stainless.

Same here. Got ours in 1972. Have a couple of cast iron skillets too. The nonstick skillets we've had just did not hold up. One of my DILs has gone through so many skillets of various types where the surface gets scratched or worn away - and our Farberware keeps on going.

Except for Grandma’s 1940s Wagners, which are still going strong.

I really trust America’s Test Kitchen recommendations. They really put the stuff they test through the wringer. They recommend OXO Good Grips Non-Stick Pro 12” Open Frypan.

Their customer service is great. Wife bought a set, the fry pan was bent in shipping ( but still useable) they sent a replacement in four days and told us to keep the bent one. Great cookware & lifetime guarantee
