FReepers, its time to purchase a new cookware set. My current non-stick pan is chipping.
I have lodge cast iron pans for occasional use, but would like an everyday non-stick pan.
Any suggestions?
I use Calphalon stainless steel, not non-stick. When I cook something sticky such as eggs, I use plenty of butter and/or oil and they work great. And they clean up easy.
I'll never have to buy another set.
Or you could let them cool down while you eat, then fill them with water. Soak for 15 minutes and the food wipes right out with a plastic scratchy pad.
Twice a year I polish them with Barkeepers Friend. I don't have to, but wow do they look great.
Le Creuset or Analon for every day cookware that is adequate and lasts and affordable. I am sure there are more expensive items that are much better. I find that these are wonderful at their price point.
Hopefully your query will give me recommendations on even better tools at this price point.
Induction stoves are really nice, as nice as using gas.
Calphalon is great.
Human nature boggles my mind. It truly does.
Thread poster asks question.
“I love my cast iron. Please recommend a non-stick pan for other use”.
Tons of responses “BUY CAST IRON! BUY CAST IRON! BUY CAST IRON!”
Thanks for not answering the OP’s question. THEY ALREADY LIKE CAST IRON. THAT IS NOT THE QUESTION.
Sheesh!
You can’t get good help from most people. I don’t know if they don’t read the question, don’t care, just like to hear themselves talk, or don’t engage their brain. I honestly don’t get it. This is so typical not just here on FR but everywhere. A person asks a very specific question and 90 of the responses are anything but an attemp to help the person.
Sheesh!
Human nature sucks.
Or you could deglaze the pan while it’s hot and turn the stuck on stuff into a sauce. That’s the French way to avoid scrubbing your pans.
Le Creuset and AllClad are the best. I worked at WS for years and purchased several different brands(40% discount, I couldn’t resist, plus I truly love to cook!). Anyway, my very favorites are AllClad, Le Creuset and the copperware they sold. I’ve had all these for 25 years and they have held up beautifully. Well worth the investment
Would recommend avoiding nonstick, older aluminum and copper, go with an All-Clad stainless set,
I think the Emeril cookware is also All-Clad,
Coupled with the Lodge your set,
I would recommend finding on ebay or elsewhere a #9 Griswold Cast Iron skillet and #9 or #10 Griswold Dutch Oven with Titetop lid and trivet, super smooth surface and highest quality cast iron ever made, you’ll give it to the grandkids and will be used for the next 100 years,
Gotta be careful with Emeril cookware. There are different levels and it’s not always obvious what you’re getting. Top of the line is fully clad like All Clad, but the lower level stuff has aluminum disks bonded to stainless uppers.
Bar Keepers is great stuff. I just hold the hot skillet or sauce pan under a dribbling kitchen faucet and with a wooden spoon for a scraper, it comes amazingly clean - but yes, your way works great to for pans that have cooled down. Ours then goes into the dishwasher and come out sparkling clean. Can’t put cast-iron in the dishwasher. We use cast-iron for some foods - for baking cornbread mostly.
Good info thanks, did not know that, was just thinking about less expensive alternatives,
Non-stick. Meh! Who needs it? If your food sticks it means you’re not putting in enough butter or oil or schmaltz or lard or you get the idea...
I have had my Calphalon for 30+ years, bought it at a restaurant supply store, no problems. I also have a couple of Cuisinart pots that are older and are great. As for cast iron, I have my husband’s great grandmother’s, two pieces are over 100 years old, I will pass the cast iron on to our children! Great it right, it lasts forever.
I bought some All-Clad years ago and the pieces (pots, pans, and lids) are all holding up well. If I werent so lazy I could use some stainless steel polish on them and make them look like new.
You buy All-Clad to pass on to your children. The cheaper stuff is for recycling.
I havent used any Misen cookware but it seems like a good alternative to All-Clad. They direct market and cut out the middle men. On the other hand, All-Clad helps to keep retailers in business.
Steer clear of anything with George Foreman’s name on it.
Easy. All-Clad. If you can afford em.
