“Minneapolis officials will no longer require property owners to prepay the second half of their property taxes in order to start removing rubble from sites damaged in the May riots.”
Prepay taxes before they can start cleanup? How could anyone even conceive of such lunacy?

It is refreshing to see them doing the right thing, said Steve Krause, owner of Minnehaha Lake Wine & Spirits, which was destroyed in the rioting. But the taxes are outrageous. They are based on improved real estate, and obviously the real estate is no longer improved. It is devastated. City officials are telling you to leave. Listen to them.

That’s a big part of your problem, right there.
If you still don’t realize that, then you would be piling stupid on top of more stupid to pour more money into your property or business.

Slaves obey their masters without question.
Minneapolis property owners are finding that out the hard way.
Time to get free at last and get the f&^% out of the place.

I’d be giving them the “finger” while packing up and leaving....never to be seen or heard from again. They already paid sky high taxes that were supposed to provide police and fire protection to begin with. The City failed to do that...sorry, I’m gone..screw you, you commie SOBs. Take your property tax and shove it up your commie azzes.

Krause had to pay $17,116 in taxes on his property to get a demolition permit because his building is still valued at $363,400, according to county property records.
Damn. Is this half a years tax or an entire years tax? That is crazy.

Leftists are pathetic. It’s to the point where leftarded cities should pay any business that dares to open a business in their cities. It’s almost that bad.

I recently learned about the predicament and took quick action to fix it,
Well, little boy Frey, I’m not as impressed with you as you are.
You see, a good manager would have anticipated, and had the policies in place, before it became an issue, not as a reaction, after the media shows the world what a fool you are.

You would think that the property taxes on a burned out building would be significantly less than normal.

Why does he need a demolition permit if the building is already destroyed?
And of course his building is still valued at $363M. Assessors already did their assessments for the year back in spring, and unless he filed a protest, AND the county delayed it, then it's already set for the year. The city doesn't update that valuation on a daily basis, they're gonna wait until next year's assessment to do it on their own.
Did Krause file any kind of paperwork for assessment relief due to property damage? That should bring his property taxes down quite a bit, or is he just whining and not doing anything about it?
