You are loved!
Sorry to hear that.
I have a sister who decided to kill herself with alcohol.
She is lying in hospice as we speak.
Hang in there.
We need you.
I suspect he wanted to end her suffering. Sometimes pain killers are just not effective.
It was probably an act of selflessness.
Men are more conscious and tend to suffer more as a result, so to speak. That is why they act up as opposed to lesser souled people who see no evil nor good in life. Having a soul and not being able to handle it is a cause for problems.
May God give you, and your son, strength and comfort for the difficult journey ahead.
What’s with the demented use of words in the headline?
Mine too. She has been afraid to take chemo due to side effects.
This video claims fasting before chemo can reduce side effects: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lcOj0RYzPY
She’s starting to warm up to the idea.
I tried telling her oncologist about this two weeks ago, but she brushed it off as a crazy idea.
I did some searching last night and found the clinical trial:
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01802346?term=NCT01802346&draw=2&rank=1#contacts
It uses Longo’s Fasting Mimicking Diet in place of a true fast.
Sometimes cancer patients have surgery to reduce pain or restore some function, even if it won’t prolong life.
“What is the point of the amputation if the illness is terminal? That would seem to be adding more misery to an already miserable situation.”
After seeing my dad go with lung cancer, I am not sure I would do treatment on terminal cancer. Seems to diminish the quality of life for the short period that is left. Quality over quantity.
I'm with you. The suffering of everyone close to the family had to be so painful, that words are not adequate.
I'm 79 and I'm against suicide as an action, but if faced with a terminal, painful illness, I can only pray to God that I would not go that route.
I really will not guarantee what would happen, and I'm sorry to say that.
My Faith tells me that if I did that, I'm going to burn in hell, {I need a little advice from that great Catholic, joe biden, "C'mon man, you can do it".}
If joe's a real Catholic, me and Jesus need to really talk, not me praying, me getting some answers.
Thanks.
L
Very sad.
Prayers for the whole family.
The tumor causes pain locally.
It will recur & they usually die from mets but amputation helps with the pain and allows the child to move around more. Sarcomas are dreadful cancers.
It is tragic. If she was terminal and suffering, the ethical thing to do was give her as much pain medication as necessary to keep her comfortable, even if the meds shortened her life.

I like your idea...It is better than shooting the sick child...
I just cannot support the idea of shooting the sick child...
No. Shooting a child who is terminal is not merciful. Every sick person deserves as much pain relief as they need. We have ability to do that now.
“””That said. whats the point in amputating a leg if the cancer is terminal? Insurance will pay? Not enough info.”””
I don’t have the answer to that as not enough information is given.
My son who is terminal told the doctors he would not give up and would try anything.
So he is on an experimental drug and also goes out of state once a month for an experimental treatment.
Maybe it won’t work. But the information they get by using him as a research tool could be very valuable to future patients.
Thanks for that. What they were undergoing was unspeakably horrible. I won’t judge.
