Unless I am mistaken, there are only two active commissioners currently on the Sentencing Commisssion. Seems to me like Trump adding five more is pretty yuge news — yes, no?

Trump should fire every Obama holdover after he wins in Nov. Hopefully he can have it done before Jan 20. If we win back the House Maybe he can get his agenda done.

how many hundreds of Trump’s appointees haven’t even been approved yet, and his first term is almost over. That’s a total national disgrace, thanks McConnel and the do-nothing dems.

Even if Trump somehow wins the election, the Senate may shift to full-scale Democrat control. If that happens, then the President will have no further opportunity to appoint anyone whom he wants to any Senate-confirmed office. In this scenario, the Democrats in the Senate can recommend that Trump appoint a certain person to a certain office and refuse to consider any other nominee. Precedent does not limit the Democrats in their power plays. And expect vicious battles over hideous legislation, especially if the Democrats simultaneously control both houses of Congress. If the Democrats control both houses, then they can launch and maintain extensive, constant impeachment proceedings, designed to denigrate and harass the president.

Even if the Democrats finish the election with just five seats in addition to the 33 carryover seats, Bernie Sanders, and Angus King, then they can continue to stonewall nominees with slowdowns sufficient to require the President to pass 12 to 15 years to get one nominee for each office approved. (If for some bizarre reason, the Democrats cannot win even five seats, then they probably should rethink their tactics, but they reject rational thinking. Regardless, they still an make nasty and defamatory remarks in committee to vilify any Trump appointees.)

If somehow Trump wins despite a filibuster-proof or even veto-proof Democrat majority in the Senate (Republicans hold only 30 Senators in the other two classes, ignoring party switchers), then the Democrats in the Senate will control the country quite effectively through the legislative process and very likely will convict on any impeachment charges.
