Utility pole transformers have a service life expectancy of 50 years. 90 percent of them in service today are over 75 years old in most areas.

Mitsubishi and several other players are frantically building factories and sourcing materials and skilled labor to keep up with what is expected to be catastrophic failures and the needed replacements.

If it’s in the NE or North, that does not surprise me.
There has been a transformer shortage for the past 5 years at least, almost all sizes nationwide.

It’ll take another decade to upgrade and get the NE/North up to code & modernized I’d imagine with electricity and gas.
