many yrs ago, when our kids were little, we were driving back east to visit family....we knew nothing about Sturgis.....we had hoped to pull into Rapid City later in the evening but to our shock all motels/hotels were fully booked and they were booked past Wall Drug....we ended up driving all night and finally pulled into Sioux Falls early the next morning and got a room....
You KNOW Antifa will try to show up--and they will get their behinds kicked way beyond the the state. 😏

Nah, Antifa won’t get within 100 miles of the place. They only gather where they outnumber their opponents and the police back them up.
It is impressive. I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB SD just outside of Rapid City in the late 80s. The rally was a stupendous event to see. Social distancing? That’s a laughable concept.
Years ago when I was evaluating gold prospects in the Black Hills around Sundance, I wasn’t aware of Sturgis and had to book a motel room in Gillette. So on the I90 drive back to Sundance, I would see all these motorcycle trailers just outside of town. These bikers weren’t up to driving all the way across country from the west on their hogs, but they towed them to roughly the South Dakota state line, then unloaded and rode them on in to Sturgis. This “cheat” sort of destroyed my mental image of rough, tough bikers riding across America to get to Sturgis.
I’ve been watching the webcams and it looks like a fantastic place to be.....Now I want to go next year....

It’s not a matter of if will happen it is when it will happen and not just at bike rallies. A couple of my friends would and I take a cruise through local riverfront parks and the girls would pull their tops up as we rode by...
If there is a ‘next year’......................
