That eternal TV question may finally get answered: A revival of Whos the Boss? is in development, with original stars Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano returning to reprise their roles, our sister site Deadline reports.
The sequel series, which will be shopped to networks and streaming services by producers Sony Pictures Television, will take place 30 years later, with Milanos Samantha now grown up and a single mother, living in the same house as the original series. The new take will explore generational differences, as well as opposing world views and parenting styles within the dynamic of a modern family in 2020.
Original stars Judith Light (Angela) and Danny Pintauro (Jonathan) arent slated to appear as of yet, but they are supportive of the new series, and producers hope to find a way to work them in. Katherine Helmond, who co-starred as Angelas sassy mother Mona, passed away last year.
Debuting on ABC in 1984, Whos the Boss? starred Danza as former ball player Tony Micelli, who took a job working as a housekeeper for yuppie businesswoman Angela (Light), moving into her Connecticut home along with his daughter Samantha. The series became a Top Ten Nielsen hit and ran for eight seasons, ending its run in 1992 after a total of 196 episodes.
>>Katherine Helmond, who co-starred as Angelas sassy mother Mona, passed away last year.
so she will be played by a CGI hologramma I s’pose?
Who’s the transgender, lesbian, handicapped, black midget?
The reason the Bridge at Remagen survived the backup explosion when the primary one failed to work was they didn’t have military grade explosives and were forced to use commercial explosives.
Oops, wrong thread.
Alyssa Milano is WAY past her sell by date.
Pass.
Who needs a paycheck?
Another venue for Hollywierd Leftist script writers to write their politics into “entertainment”.
Judith Light and Tony Danza were the best part of the original series! But Ms. Light is missing from the new one.
Alyssa Milano of course grew up to be a total fool!! I would like to see her disappear from public life, NOT appear in a new series! PHOOEY!!!!
It may not be well advised to invite a former ball player move into the house with your teenage daughter.
Tony Danza,yes.
Alyssa Millano, definitely NO.
Zackly.
I doubt there is any truth to this. Tony Danza has said admantly, repeatedly and very recently that there will not be a revival, especially in light of Helmond’s death. That show would’ve been shit without her and Judith Light and the ship has lomg since sailed on any revival.
Nope, not at all interested. Hard no.
Milano is bad enough all by herself. But Judith Light’s politics and Danny what’s-his-name makes the whole thing unpalatable.
The work that Tony Danza had done to his face makes him look like an extra from the old Thunderbirds puppet TV series.
*snort* Please. When I was a woke-before-my-time teenager in the '80s, I remember complaining about how non-diverse that show was. A bunch of Italians? Code for privileged racists. A rich white single mom who was an executive? Obviously she didn't build that, she just trampled all the POC around her. Poor, poor Danny-boy, never allowed to express his true desires (oooh, is that fudge over there?)
The only thing that could help is to see Ms. Milano begging and groveling for forgiveness, that as a 12 yr old she didn't know how USED she was to advance white supremacy.
I'll wait.
PASS
NO THANKY
NOTHING ORIGINAL ANYMORE, ALL TAPPED OUT REVIVING CRAPPY SHOWS
It'll be released straight to audio.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nope.
