Well, I’d like to know—I just turned hit senior-citizen status, and was welcomed by a significant stroke. Never had high-BP or cholesterol problems, am not obese by any means, but I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis years ago. Long story short, the docs put me on statins after the stroke, and I have been through three varieties because it seemed to worsen my arthritis. I quit and now my cholesterol is high?

Now, I’m back on them, but I see no benefit other than a number. Still think the drugs are worse than not taking them.

I tried 3 different statins and could not tolerate any of them. MD wanted to try a 4th and I said no and found an MD who listened. Followed her when she started her own practice in 2012. I do red rice yeast and niacin at night and it’s been fine for years. BP is good with low dose meds and I have lost some weight and bike 3x a week.

Out of curiosity... What were you taking for the arthritis? I had a stroke years ago, went through more tests than you could shake a stick at... Nothing wrong... I was sent to an oncologist...ran every test you could think of... nothing... finally she found the answer... It was caused by the drug I was taking for arthritis....
