I wonder if this was just an alternative to detention?

Didn’t these idiots ever hear of something called an “F” on school assignments?

Don’t these morons know that if a student collects enough “F’ grades, there is this thing we used to call “staying back”?

So, some Nazi Screwel Teacher/Administrator in Michigan decided to throw this kid in jail to make a political point about the pandemic?

Well, bless their stupid little hearts!

She doesn’t do the work? Fail her and boor her out of school! Where do they think they get the right to incarcerate her?

” she was on probation for fighting with her mother and stealing, “

Well, that doesn’t seem related to anything discussed in the article...

This teen was on probation.

There is wide latitude to set conditions before granting probation.

It would help to know the offense the teen was on probation for.

I thought it was her abusing her mother who was making her do her homework and she kept refusing. It got so bad she had to call the cops. The media of course took things out of context and said it was all about not doing her homework when in fact it was about her striking out against her mother.

There was a post about this a few weeks ago. The kid agreed to complete schoolwork as part of a probation agreement. When she did not comply with her contract, she was re-arrested and put in detention.

I guess according to Dingell, breaking a legal contract is OK if your skin is the right color.

My sister teaches black (NOT “Black”) middle school kids math in Baltimore. Over two-thirds of her classes would be behind bars for not doing homework if that were a criminal offense

Wow. She was on probation for assault and theft. She was in detention. She kept using drugs. Some dip officer put the homework thing on the list of violations on the DR and that alone becomes the story.

Dont let the press fool you. This whole article is an obfuscation of reality.

Kids miss school work while attending public schools.

So what’s the big deal?

Why are they picking on her?

Wow! If this happened when I was a kid I would still be in jail. My parents did not believe in homework and did not care if I did it or not.

A report by ProPublica earlier this month first shed light on Grace's case, as it noted that she was on probation for fighting with her mother and stealing

This changes everything.....if attending class and doing her school work was part of her probation then she belongs in jail!!!

In the insane world of Leftists, we now have people being sent to jail for

- not doing there homework
- not wearing a mask
- openning a barbershop

Conversely, these same leftists either release from jail or don’t jail

- rapists
- arsonists
- pedophiles

The right believes in punishing the guilty and protecting the innocent.
Leftists believe in punishing the innocent and protecting the guilty.

“Violated probation.” If doing her schoolwork was a term of her probation then she was correctly re-incarcerated. What was she on probation for? It was surely not a “racist” act because probably almost all of the power structure there is black.

The story is only partially true...
The “juvenile” in question is prone to violence, has been locked up before, and was beating his mother..
not doing schoolwork was a violation of his parole...
mom was scared to have him in the house with her...
judge refused to send him back to his mother due to the beatings he was inflicting upon her...
used parole violation to put him back into lockup..
hence, he was locked up because he did not do his homework...

She was supposed to be in detention for fighting with her mother but was out on parole and then violated the terms. She was not jailed for simply not turning in homework, she was put back in jail for violating parole. I see nothing wrong with the decision to return her to detention. She should not have been returned to her mother, who was her victim, until the sentence was complete. The girl learned nothing from this.
