For such a time as this!
We have been homeschooling for years. My wife maintains several different online groups. In the last few months one of her public ones has gone from 1500 members to over 7 thousand with now over a hundred per day asking to join. The movement is real. All these parents are asking how they can teach their children better than the schools (which really aren’t right now).
It is going to be a different world.
It’s all about the government money. It’s all about control.
The kids would do well to stay at home using You Tube Lessons. The masks are very very dangerous not only health wise but psychologically. The poor kids will spend hours on school buses and sitting in classrooms like mind-numbed robots. . . it is physical and mental cruelty. This is a foreshadowing of the end-times. It is out of the German playbook. And do you think the administrators are going to wear their masks behind their closed doors?
If private/parochial schools are not an option, parents need to take a look at the age of compulsory education for their particular state.
If the Left wont open public schools, they certainly arent going to stand around while people find alternative options.
The party of choice will try to stop parents from choosing how they want to educate their children.
Ping
Ping!
and then there is that LGBTQ curriculum mandated this year by some states . . .just another reason to home school. Most parents and even some teachers have no clue what is going on.
They always have.
Thats why Home School Legal Defense Association is a must for homeschoolers.
It should be the VERY first step taken after making the decision to homeschool.
And without delay, at that.
I appreciate your service.
What I would say to you, is that it is important for you to understand, is that the public school systems - via the States - hold a monopoly on the public schools - set aside the Covid-19 crises.
The public school systems (i.e. Administrators and Teacher Unions) are going to fight to hold onto there district monopolies - regardless of how many lives the Covid-19 crises claims.
Unfortunately, what I scribed above is the real-world.
The reason they are bullies in Illinois is because the law is NOT on their side. ANYONE who is homeschooling MUST sign up with HSLDA.ORG ($120). Illinois has homeschool friendly laws due to a long-ago court decision. My wife and I home-schooled our children in Illinois for almost a decade. All you have to do is broadly mirror the Illinois curriculum, put in enough hours, and teach in the English language. I don’t know what was needed if you are going from public to homeschooling, but do it by mail (certified), keep copies. DO NOT DO STUFF ONLINE.
Homeschooling is the Very Best Answer to Marxist Gov’t School System brainwashing of our children.
That said, if this gains enough popularity that the Blue States and their NEA allies become threatened by it they will retaliate by creating state laws outlawing Homeschooling.
If that fails they will then pass state laws mandating a leftist curriculum which must be the subject matter taught no matter where the education takes place in order to receive a diploma from the state. The left will never simply give up. They never do.
The thing leftists have in common that the resistance lacks is, they never ever give up on their goals. No matter the obstacles. No matter the setbacks. They never ever give up.
Our problem is, with the exception of Donald J. Trump we have no one on our side with anywhere near that level of tenacity.
If home-schooling is the alternative, or the only way, then, all the taxes collected by the states and the feds for that schooling, should be re-directed to the parents doing the teaching.
Businesses have discovered that, a lot of their workers would be just as productive and efficient working from home, AND, as a result of that, there will be a lot of commercial real estate and office going empty and to waste. Same thing should happen to school buildings that don’t have teachers and students using them. Re-purpose those buildings to house the homeless, and even turn them into apartments.
Taxation without representation comes to mind. We are being taxed for teachers that are not teaching, and for maintaining buildings and infrastructure that is not being used.
Another ten-year home-education mother. Best thing I ever did. HSLDA is worth its weight in gold. Never had to use it.
Knew that once they kicked the kids home from the public system, that homeschooling was going to suddenly become a huge movement. The public school system just killed themselves by putting on poisonous lipstick.
pretty soon, public schools are gonna be nothing but meeting grounds for gangs and thugs and drug dealers- as parents learn that homeschooling results in far greater benefits for their kids in life- and produces far greater respectful kids by and large-
Kids might learn the truth instead of the party line.
I suspect that teacher union and establishment bullying tactics will be going on for quite a while against anyone who dares go against their orthodoxy.
All new homeschoolers need to join Home School Legal Defense. (HSLDA.org)
We are retired homeschoolers and still support them so they can help other families
Homeschooling works.
I guess not.
We home schooled. My wife was afraid that she was not qualified to teach high school, so we looked at putting them in the public high school. The high school would not give them credit for much of the coursework they had done. Suddenly instead of being a couple of years ahead, they were a couple of years behind. So we went to the local junior college. The junior college would not accept them unless they tested dirrectly into college courses and not the remedial courses most high school graduates have to take. So my girls started college at 13 and 14. My wife that was afraid to teach them high school had inadvertently prepared them for college.
The point of all that was... get kids out of public schools, they are government child abuse. Parents can do much better.
Pretty well screwed in some N.E. States. Wonder how the PA Amish get away with it. We started in FL and it was pretty easy. Simply write a letter to the county edu dept notifying them of your intentions. That and keep records in case they decide to audit you. When we moved to MO, we didn't even bother telling anyone because it's not required. Our kids don't even exist as far as they're concerned.
