Tadich Grill, the classic San Francisco restaurant thats been serving fresh seafood, slabs of beef, and other stick-to-the-ribs fare since 1849, announced Monday that it will temporarily close this Friday. It wont reopen until indoor dining is again allowed in San Francisco, it says and with that date up in the air, diners should probably order Tadichs beloved crab cakes, cioppino, and bread pudding while they can.

Wonderful place, picture brought memories back. Diner there often when working in the Financial District. Unfortunately the City as I knew it is gone.
Look until the government is made to stand down in these liberal areas and not be able to shut you down at any time anywhere
who could possibly proceed under those rules?
Ive seen the restaurants in my area try to put tables out in the street and such ; and its not sustainable.
Death to America by Americans.
A real shame. A great place
Yes, I used to go there for lunch with the team from the office once in a while - but I feel zero desire to return to San Francisco just to experience it again!
Wine in a drinking glass. Abalone to die for. My office was just across the street on California Street.
Finished our day at the office by 2:30. Late lunch in a booth with a curtain; ate and drank for two hours. Wow, those were the days! 1968-1975
Schroeders was nearby. Loved the Weiner snitzel and potato pancakes there.

When we first moved to the Bay area, a friend took us to Tadich’s. Until the diseased ones took over SF, it was a high point dinner with visitors to this part of the world.
LOVE Tadich’s, Gary Danko, Crustaceans, John’s Grill, and so many more wonderful eating places...and XOX Truffles!!! Tadich’s has always been great food and drinks...and they love Texans! Remember the doublemint twins that ate there forever?!!!
My husband works in the valley and we LOVED coming to the city for many years. Now we will enjoy the wonderful memories as we won’t spend our $$ there.
Carmel and Pacific Grove are our destinations now. I just made myself hungry but saved $800!!!!!! Le Bicyclette open in Carmel? The most awesome chocolate mousse!
Stay cool in Cali..
Carmel and Pacific Grove are my weekends now.
Tuck Box, Portabello’s, Anton and Michelle, Carmel Valley Ranch, Rocky Point(If they ever open again)
Ventana, Post Ranch
Tons to do around there and get in some good walking
I’ll be there this weekend.
I’ll add a few of these next time we’re out there.
Maybe you are the guy with the Trump stickers on the car in Carmel last August?!!! We loved just sitting near and watching libs gag!!
Cheers!
Their squid steaks are the BEST!!!
Hoh no
Not that brave
Agreed.
Long established restaurants are going out of business like crazy here in L.A.
Here in CT, many have been able to survive because they allowed outside dining in late May and inside dining in mid-June. That got many places close to 75% capacity if they got creative. Unlike LA, once it gets cold they lose outside dining. Then what will they do?
So far, very few have closed in my area. Some of the more upscale Italian places have been able to survive an a much more basic to-go menu, however I don’t know how ling it can last. I suspect by the end of the year or early next year, my area will see more closing for good.
