Why is the word “transPHOBIC” used? Who’s afraid of them? We’re simply disgusted by them, but not fearful.

Who’s afraid of them?

Once, while eating at a chain restaurant, the ‘hostess’, six-feet tall, sporting an Adam’s apple, 5-o’clock shadow, a deep voice and a yellow dress took us to our table. I felt no fear of him. For that matter I wasn’t disgusted with him either. I would have laughed at him, but that wouldn’t have been nice. I felt sorry for him the torment his life must be. But to be honest, it was hard not to laugh out loud.

One time while in Japan, I got a chance to go to the Kabuki-za and saw a whole play. Fantastic experience. The women’s roles are all played by men. They are very convincing—they spend their lives studying how women, speak, move and act. Most are not gay, in fact it can be a family tradition.

All that said, our ‘hostess’ was really just a guy in a dress.
