Bakersfield Resident Pleads Guilty to Possessing a Machine Gun
justice.gov ^ | July 28, 2020 | U.S. Attorney’s Office Eastern District of California

FRESNO, Calif. — Liodam Gonzalez, 28, of Bakersfield, pleaded guilty today to unlawful possession of a machine gun and possession of an unregistered firearm, U.S. Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced.

According to court documents, on Aug. 30, 2019, Liodam Gonzalez fired a fully automatic handgun in a residential neighborhood in Bakersfield. At the time of his arrest, Gonzalez was a convicted felon and was member of the West Side Baker criminal street gang. Police officers found and seized the machine gun in Gonzalez’s residence.

This case is the product of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations and the Bakersfield Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Thomas Newman is prosecuting the case.

Gonzalez is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. District Judge Dale A. Drozd on Oct. 16. Gonzalez faces a maximum 10-year prison term and a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. The Department of Justice reinvigorated PSN in 2017 as part of the Department’s renewed focus on targeting violent criminals, directing all U.S. Attorney’s Offices to work in partnership with federal, state, local, and tribal law enforcement and the local community to develop effective, locally based strategies to reduce violent crime. ..machine gun

The article didn't mention the brand.

Probably one of those full-semi-auto assault AR-47's or AK-15's

It’s not, under certain circumstances. One of those circumstances being not living in the PRK (California).

Nope, from another article:

A 9 mm Glock with a high capacity magazine was recovered during a search of a home on East 9th Street Friday. The gun had an adapter that allowed it to fire as a fully automatic firearm.

We are forced to pay taxes to prosecute us for krap fake crimes like this. ( and I don’t have a machine gun, ha! So this comment is not personal ). This breeds such tremendous disrespect for our “legal” system it’s no wonder we’ve wound up with the likes of pelosi, A0c , Schitt, mad maxine waters, and the Islamic lady in Minnesota.

Making them subject to a Federal tax was the consolation prize the NRA allowed the FDR administration in 1934. Even then, it only applied to guns that crossed state lines.

It was the Wickard v. Fillburn decision in 1941 that extended "interstate commerce" to essentially "all" commerce.

The Feds had to pull some dirty shenanigans to get a muddy decision from the Supreme Court in the Miller case, in 1939. That case was used by later Progressive appellate courts to rule exactly opposite of what the case said, making machine guns illegal to own without paying the $200 tax (about $3500 in today's dollars).

Then, in 1986, the Democrats did some dirty tricks to put in a ban on any further manufacture or importation of machine guns for citizens not in the government.

With glocks it is an add on part that snaps into where the slide backplate goes. The part itself is what’s considered the NFA item.

Since the National Firearms Act of 1934, the Gun Control Act of 1968, and the Hughes Amendment to the otherwise-good Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986....
