Austin Police Chief Brian Manley confirmed that the man who was killed was Garrett Foster, 28.
Fosters mother also confirmed that he died during an interview with Good Morning America. In that interview, Fosters mother said that he and his fiancée had been demonstrating in protests almost every day for the past 50 days.
A GoFundMe Account for Foster has been created, noting that he leaves behind a disabled fiancée who uses a wheelchair. The two had been at the protest Saturday night, the GoFundMe account says. As of this update, the fund has gathered more than $96,000 in donations.

I haven’t found where AntiFa Garrett hails from.
Also, the article doesn’t mention if AntiFA Garrett is the owner of the AK.
I want to contribute to the go fund me for the guy that shot Foster. anyone got a link?
If he'd actually cared about the fiancee, and she relied on him, he should have stayed home with her, instead of going out several nights to participate in the riots. Bad life choices can get you killed.
He died while doing an interview with GMA? Rough gig.
Wait! I thought GoFundMe didn’t allow raising money for someone involved in criminal activity
Oh, silly me.... that’s only for cake bakers and florists
Nor will it. No mention of him shooting at other cars will be made. The individual should have invoked his Constitutional Right to remain silent and lawyered up. These being “fully cooperative” with the police has caused people to go to prison than anything else. But they let him go. Have you ever heard of a Grand Jury indictment? By “cooperating “ with the police, you just made their case.
So he died during the interview?
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. 50 days of protesting with a rifle is challenging the odds.
Looks like doing anything with Good Morning America will kill you. Lesson learned. Don’t talk to them.
From the Gofund me:
Garrett Foster was murdered last night July 25th while attending a peaceful protest in Austin, TX with his disabled fiancée in her wheelchair. An unknown vehicle barreled into the crowd and this evil person shot and killed Garrett, while he was trying to protect his fiancée. A great person was taken away from his fiancée, his mother, father , siblings and a host of loving family members. He fought against injustice , served in the military and was fiercely protective of his fiancée. They fell in love at 17 and were never apart. This fund is established to cover funeral , burial and other expenses in the days to....

Family of armed protester shot to death remember him as a “champion of justice”
by Tristan BalagtasSunday, July 26th 2020
Honor Garrett: Fight for Black Lives, Justice for Garrett: just what some of the signs read at a vigil remembering 28-year-old Garrett Foster. Foster a familiar face at Austins Black Lives Matter protests, according to his family.
His wife, being African-American and he being a champion of justice and wanting to make sure that all people are treated fairly and equally, he was at those protests diligently to express his views against police brutality, said Fosters Aunt Karen Sourber.
Although hed been to more than 50 protests in recent months, Saturdays protest on the streets of downtown Austin would end differently for Foster. He was gunned down just before 10 P.M. on South Congress Avenue. As protesters filled the streets, witnesses say a car plowed through the crowd. APD Chief Brian Manley says Foster was shot shortly, after.
Mr. Foster, who was holding an AK-47 type assault rifle, approached the driver side window, as other people in the crowd started to strike the vehicle, said Manley. Gunshots were fired from inside the vehicle at Mr. Foster.
On viewer video sent to CBS Austin, you can hear the moment those shots were fired.
Disturbing footage and heartbreaking news for Fosters mom, who was too distraught to speak about her son. Sourber says that her sister, Sheila Foster is reeling from the loss.
She collapsed, said Sourber. Of course. Im a mom of three and Ive literally told God, Dont ever do this to me, dont ever take one of my children, and to see my sister go through it its the worst thing, ever.
Manley says the individual who shot Foster called 911 and admitted to pulling the trigger, but that he did so only after Foster pointed his rifle at him, first.
Police say another person returned fire at the vehicle. Both individuals have been questioned by police and released, pending further investigation.
The family has set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses: https://www.gofundme.com/f/official-garrett-foster-memorial-fund
