Bushmaster’s quality took a major dive when they got bought by Remington and moved away from Windham MA.
Bump for a friend.
Those are pretty standard for FMJ in those calibers. Lethal, yes, but no more so than similar rounds of decent quality.
Well, you got me on that. Though to be honest, if the SHTF and we have to start shooting Democrat ferals, I don't care much how it is labeled if it works for me.
My m&p sport 2 loves it. It’s something like 7,200 rounds in with no problems. I also bore bath it every so often to prevent stuck cases.
All my AKs eat the hell out of it, I’m talking decades. Seen 2 AKs choke ever and both were my fault
Thanks. The internet is infinite LOL
Found out early on that my Ruger mini 14's hated steel... Brass only...
Bushmaster (20-years old) gets fed only prime beef...
M1 Garand eats 30-06 with never a hiccup...
Be careful shooting modern factory loads out of an M1. They’re made for old milspec ammo and is under gasses compared to the hotter modern stuff and they often bend or break op rods. There’s a gas plug you can get that has larger and smaller gas holes that are adjustable
Funny thing about mosins is the cosmoline, lacquer, etc that doesn’t get ALL THE WAY cleaned out of the chamber will act like glue and screw your extraction. I took all the wood off and baked it in the oven at 400 for 2 hours to melt that crap outta there, which helped, but my cases were still a little sticky. I ended up getting an old bore brush for a 20 gauge and a drill, brushed the absolute crap out of the chamber, threw some paint thinner in there, brushed it around again and polished it out with a barrel swab. Worked pretty good and cycled ok for a while
Had a Remington 710 in .30-06 do something like that. When you try to shut the bolt, the round would pop out of the mag and out the ejection port. The feed lips were too wide, and it was a used gun with no warranty, so I bent the feed lip nearest the E port in just a hair with a punch and a mallet and it’s been in business ever since
Thanks for the good post. Some of the information is useful for people who don’t fire steel ammo, too.
Steel is cheaper but always seemed dirtier to me - and rougher on ejectors and other parts that it comes in friction contact with.
I’ve *been* in a SHTF situation where the cops weren’t coming and mobs thought it was a nice idea to burn down the store I was on top of - LA 1992.
It’s why my AK is a 12 gauge shotgun and feeds off drums. Dense mobs are more area than point targets, the nominal engagement range is going to be well within 00 buck’s capability and you don’t have to worry about lethally hitting some innocent kid in a house (or a fellow defender) 400 yards downrange.
Absolutely no question about it. A shotgun is an essential component of home defense guns.
Drum capacity?
Yea, mine wasn’t the Remington though. I tried several other varieties of ammo, and they all worked fine. it was only the S&B ammo that had issues extracting.
Variable. Drums for it are available in 10, 12, 15, 20, 25 and 30 round capacities. I favor the 12 and 20 round sizes.
Fortunately all the cases of 30-06 I have I bought during the late 1990’s...
Only take that horse out of the barn once or twice a year...
Thanks for the info...
Also - pump guns are just too slow and too prone to operator error in a defend against zombie horde/riotous mob scenario. Saw that first hand in 1992, and at three fun matches ever since.
