I agree, not the same as in the original photo. At least it doesnt look like he killed this one. Died on its own.

The original picture is a random stock photo, and the two I posted are the actual sand dollar that was found.

large numbers of fossilized sand dollars in the hills in and around San DiegoOut in the desert, off the 8 east, just past Jacumba but not quite to Ocotillo, there is/was a place up in the hills called Shell Canyon. I was just a little kid then, but I found a perfectly formed fossilized double clam shell there. Didn't know there were other places -- whereabouts in San Diego?

If youre familiar with San Diego, its where Home Avenue runs from the freeway to the turnoff to Fairmont. Home Avenue runs down the middle of a canyon and it was on one of the elevations overlooking the canyon above where a Goodwill store is (or used to be its been a while since Ive been there).

Yup, I know the area. IIRC, a fossilized whale skeleton was found there in the 1960s. Thanks, I was just curious 😉 (and you're right about the development -- I just looked at the area on Google Maps; commercial and residential development all over the place).

When was that and where was the beach? Where were you stationed in Honduras? In the late 80’s I met a retired Lt. Col. who was a CO at a small base near El Salvador where they helped train the El Salvadorian military

If the Danes had sold us Greenland, I could have moved to Nuuk and raised Narwhal.
