Very much so. I was always pretty trim, but back from 2008-2010, I spent a LOT of time on the road for work, and was eating a lot of fast food, which also coincided with turning 40, and gained a lot of unwanted weight. I didn't do much about it until 2014 when I started this diet. I lost about 25-30 lbs in the first 4-5 months to get where I needed/wanted to be. I've been doing it for maintenance pretty much ever since. I'll give myself a cheat day once every 7-10 days, but really the carbs lose a lot of their allure when you become accustomed to living without them.
It wasn't just a diet choice, but I've also become very disciplined about getting 8 hours of sleep time (I usually wake up after about 7, but I allocate myself a full 8). I think that has had as much to do with the weight loss as diet.
