Optimum is not a good plan. They are very much so into rationing care. Careplus is also not a great provider. Humana Managed is pretty good, and lets docs practice reasonably, united is marginal, but better than the first two. I am speaking as a provider and the hoops they make us jump through to provide care to their beneficiaries.
Your best best is generally straight Medicare A/B with a supplement.
I have medigap plan ‘F’... (which isn’t offered anymore)
It pays all medical bills - you can see any doctor that accepts medicare. And you don’t need referrals. I had a 24 hour hospital stay some months back and everything was covered - no co-pays, nothing.

I tried to talk my parents to get back into that, they haven’t listened yet (this is dealing with another state, but I suspect it’s no different - go to Advantage, and your plan weakens...but it is cheaper, as I understand it).
Yeah. That's the thing. I currently have no insurance and go to The Heart of Florida with a $40 co-pay each visit. I turn 65 in February and I still have no idea what to do, beyond straight Medicare.
I get things in the mail almost daily about supplements, but of course, they all say "not affiliated with any government agency". You go to the Medicare web site and they direct you to their "authorized partners" which are just companies that (I think) pay the government for the link to them.
All of them require you to submit all your information to them before they even start to tell you about costs.
