Buy used high end tools.

Not a sarcastic comment.

It’s what I do sometimes to get a product that I could not afford new.

I have had pretty good luck with it...cars, phones...

I will take your advice :-) . Most of my tool purchases were driven by an immediate need. I tend to look for used things myself :-).

I really hope manufacturing comes back here ... there really needs to be a ‘middle’ market ... it seems that everything is either cheap ass crap or ridiculously expensive ... there isn’t that “in between” grade anymore :-).

I second this.

My son has amassed quite a pile of Snap-on and Starrett tools for a fraction of their cost new.

Flea markets are a great source for quality used tools.

Exactly. Garage sales, estate sales etc.... Farmers tend to have the good tools too. There’s no need to buy new. Unless you need a special distributor wrench.

Yep, it’s amazing the HIGH quality tools you can get 2nd hand at excellent prices. Judging by the minimally (if at all) used condition of these tools their initial owners were likely middle class homeowners who bought them for a one time product.
