Ed Wallace of “Wheels” on KLIF in DFW likes to bring up how thousands of teenage girls shrieked and carried on about the beetles before they even appeared on Ed Sullivan’s show. The were not on radio at the time.
Hyped up boy band.
Talentless hacks.
Interesting.
I loved the Beatles when I was a teenager.
Uh, the youngest Beatle kids are in their mid-40s.
They’re closer to retirement then being trendsetting musicians.
The Beatles are ancient history now. That was 55 years ago, over half a century.
Think about that.
All those kids ended up living productive lives, which is a credit to their parents, some of whom are/were as nutty as can be.
I always hated the those guys.
Sean Lennon will turn 45 this year..his dad only made it to 40. Videos of him being interviewed show him talking in his native Noo Yawk accent—not quite Liverpudlian.
Friend of mine was in Pittsburgh and saw ELO and Dhani Harrison concert. He bumped into Dhani again the next day at a Strip District breakfast place and got a pic with him, put it on Facebook. I joked,
Here Comes the Son.
Listening to audiobooks about George Martin and the Beatles. At one point they wanted to record an album in Memphis
with the likes of Steve Cropper.Fell apart for various reasons.
Julian resented his dad saying “he crawled
out of a whiskey bottle”— John and Cyn were young and now had to be parents, though John was too busy recording or traveling.
They did have a bit of some father-son moments toward the end though.Just some.
Interesting
Jason Starkey and Dhani Harrison look just like the dads.
The Girl That I Love--The Beatles (1965)
Yeah, I remember the Beatles, that was that band Paul McCartney was in before he started Wings.
I say this with hubris
The music I grew up with like Stones and Beatles and so forth given Im sixty two....not sixty four...lol
Is much like all the beautiful women Ive known....a chronology of my life
It frames my life kind of like my kids do now ....Ive still got three at home as a total single dad
I know a lot about the music and the bands I like from early rock and roll like Ike Turner first recordings to newer like Greta Van Fleet or Dorothy
I know a whole lot because it interests me
No offense but I read comments here and its dilettante and pop commercial superficial knowledge 95% of the time
But thats who makes so called hits....folks who buy generic popular fluff like The Bee Gees disco or Beyoncé today
Or country pap
Mid teen girls .....you get that and you have a commercial hit
and that is most freepers ...and thats ok
But arguing Goats Head Soup as a valid offering then is a fools errand of arguing with the ignorant
My favorite Gen X offering here has always been
Journey is better than Led Zepplin
No one statement exemplifies the issue here with rock or rock and roll music knowledge better
Yes GHS is a valid work....if only for Star Star and Winter
