Heh, my best friend lost his front tooth in junior high, and has worn a plate ever since. In the time I have known him, that partial plate has become a thing of lore...I fished it out of a toilet one time when he was unable to do so.
But the most memorable thing for me was when we were young men with a few beers in us walking across a bridge to go to a touristy beach, he looked out over the ocean and opened his mouth to speak, and his partial plate shot out into the air to begin the long descent to a watery grave.
To my astonishment, even in his semi-intoxicated state, his arm shot out and his hand plucked that partial plate out of mid-air!
Like Grasshopper catching a fly with chopsticks...:)
