I wonder if this scene could be in that movie if it were made today. I’m sure it offends the sensibilities of liberals to imply that there are Mexican-American gang members in slum neighborhoods.
” wonder if this scene could be in that movie if it were made today. “.
If he was a girl.
Im surprised Michael Douglas hasnt issued a groveling apology.yet.
Ive always had a special affinity for that movie William Foster is an anti-hero.
He represents millions of average white men who are pushed to the limit. And while it does not end well for him, I remain hopeful that we will push back against our enemies and be victorious
I read in an article many years ago the scene was supposed to be with black gang members. The Rodney King riots were either underway or had ended during production. Management decided to change the gang to cholos.
When it first came out, I immediately emphasized with the guy, partially over this scene ("You couldn't leave it alone") but particularly over the scene at WhammyBurgers (It's 11:34 and he is told "We stopped serving breakfast" - after 11:30).
I've run into that "Smiling Stonewall" B/S SO many times. Close cousin to, "No. Thank you, come again."
