Doubt it. Typically what they do is send an message to the cell phone with a code to use. When I have tried my old land line number it didn’t work—nor did the current land line.
Once they send this message to your cell phone, according to my limited understanding of security issues, they will be able to “spy” on you using your cell phone. Land lines still need warrants to legally be tapped, I think.
Get a ‘burner’ phone and give them that number.
Don’t use that phone; put it in a Faraday cage so it can’t transmit or receive.
