here, here! Reading the article helps understand the legal and personal aspect. The band is fully in the right, legally and came up with a generous idea of allowing Ms. White to continue using the name. Ms. White could have probably used this to increase her fan base and income by collaborating with the band.

I'm not sure how you believe the band is in the right. First, trademark protection does not entirely depend on registering the trademark. Second, they claim to have trademarked the name a decade or so ago, whereas the original Lady A has used the name for 20+ years.

Assuming that a trademark qualifies for protection, rights to a trademark can be acquired in one of two ways: (1) by being the first to use the mark in commerce; or (2) by being the first to register the mark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office ("PTO"). - From Overview of Trademark Law

If her unregistered use of the name predates their registry, they should lose their suit. Note that I did not say that they should have to pay whatever she deems fit - only that they should lose their suit.
