Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter are celebrating their 74th wedding anniversary. The couple was married on this day in 1946 in Plains, Georgia, when he was 21 and she was 18.
Throughout their marriage, the Carters have journeyed from Plains to Georgias Governors Mansion to the White House.

Congrats in their long marriage that certainly enjoyed better days than those were confronting today.
Well, his mother, Miss Lillian, must have suspected that something was off with her offspring, because she did say in an interview: "Sometimes, when I look at my children, I say to myself, 'Lillian, you should have remained a virgin.'"
I hope they invited Barack Obama to the celebration. Save for Obama, Jimmy would have been the worst President in US history.
All the good works he has done since 1980 probably wont make up for the harm he did to the Middle East and the US.
But, being married for 74 years deserves a tip of the hat.

Yeah well...the Camp David Accords have stood up quite well over time, as did putting Paul Volker in charge of the Fed.
Even Carter's screw ups, like the Iran hostage crisis, had a silver lining by paving the way for the election of Ronald Reagan...although his giving away the Panama Canal was an unforgivable blunder.
And both of them still alive. Lucky us.
