Yet another video of a store encounter featuring a maskless individual amid the novel coronavirus pandemic has gone viral. The latest one, apparently filmed more than one week ago at a Costco in Fort Myers, Florida, showed a man in a red Running the World Since 1776 t-shirt screaming that he felt threatened as he approached the purported source of the threat.
The video was shared by film director Billy Corben and viewed more than five million times by people online.

But that would not be what the government would consider the safest course of action. We cant say government overreach is good because it fits my agenda, and then say it is not when it fits someone elses.
“If a mask is required to enter a business and you disagree, dont go into that business.”
—
I would agree, but in this case the only ones who went after the guy to harass him were the mask-Karens, not the business.
I understand; I was using N95s for the first few months, and they are VERY uncomfortable - because they DO protect the wearer (much harder to breathe than with these flimsy ones).
I’m saying little about the government.
I’m saying that *I* find it the right thing to do to avoid passing this bit of Chicomm germ warfare on. I personally find it contemptible that someone wouldn’t take a simple measure that could keep people from being sickened by idiotically and dishonestly claiming it’s a matter of ‘freedom’, a ‘liberal plot/virtue signaling’, or relating it to Mohammidian submission; the only reason not to wear a mask (with the exception of some medical conditions where you shouldn’t be out anyway) is sheer selfish sociopathy. In my view.
Do you also drive an electric car, power your house with solar and wind power, refuse to eat red meat to do your part for saving the planet from another bureaucrat claimed crises? You dont stop a virus by wearing a mask. It is going to spread until enough people are infected it cant find a healthy host. It is also been proven that unless you have 1 foot already in the grave this virus is not likely to be serious. Sorry, its not sociopathic simply because I dont share your fear. I can think for myself.
You said you’re taking away rights. That means the idea is un American and terrible. The idea doesn’t scare me. The idea is STUPID. Think about it. No really THINK.
Here’s a for-instance: you run a business. Small business. A few employees. You find out one of them is Antifa. You of course don’t want to support Antifa in any way, so you navigate your local labors laws and fire that POS. Hands washed, all good.
UNLESS your law goes into place. Then all of a sudden HOW you found out matters. If he tells you can fire him. But if you found on by social media you’re stuck with him.
You see how stupid the idea is now. You’re breaking freedom of association AND making an enforcement nightmare where how somebody finds out an employee is a POS is more important than them being a POS.
Just doesn’t work. Logistically bad. Constitutionally bad. All around BAD.
Correct. You would need a rock solid work related reason to fire someone. But a law such as this would protect far more normal Americans than leftists. It would protect people like Melissa Rolfe, Eric Wuestenberg, the Central Park dog walker lady, the Costco guy in this story who is the victim of a busybody. Remember, corporations are not conservative. They are cowardly and spineless and will cave to the SJW mob. So we are not protecting antifa members here. Not by a long shot. We are protecting normal every day Americans who are afraid to speak their mind on the most basic of issues. Theyre afraid to wear American flag T-shirts, MAGA hats in public, They are afraid to tweet. They are afraid to make contradictory comments on liberal friends Facebook post. I dont think you realize just how chilled free speech has become. Something has to be done. And the last thing Im worried about the freedom of some spineless company to fire an innocent person.
Social media claims another one.
The dude melted down in public. The camera had nothing to do with his actions.
None of these are normal Americans. They’re all people who for various reasons decided to stick their foot in it, in various levels of public. And there’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with their employers deciding they don’t want to be tied to that. This is NOT about SJW mobs, this is about freedom of association. Which is JUST as vital apart of the 1st as speech. You have the right to say whatever damn fool thing you want. And the people around you, including your employer, have the right to decide you’re a damn fool and they want nothing to do with you. So far these people aren’t afraid. That’s why they keep stepping in it. The only thing that has to be done is people need to start using their heads and realizing that just because you CAN doesn’t mean you SHOULD. None of these clowns are innocent.
thats the most idiotic thing Ive ever heard. Melissa Rolfe stuck her foot in it? Eric Wuestenberg? The woman just walking her dog in Central Park? Mike Gundy who would have been fired had he not apologizeD for wearing an OAN shirt on his own damn time ? He stepped in it? Really? Nope. You are 100% wrong on this. We must stop the killing of free speech thru economic terrorism. It may take a while but its going to happen. And yes, we are going to do it by taking away the rights of companies to fire people for non-work related things that happen on the employees own time. Too bad, not sad
Absolutely. Rolfe decided to call anger at yet another person killed by cops nonsense. If she didn’t realize that was a bad idea she’s stupid. Escalating a verbal altercation to pulling a gun, stupid. Violating leash laws then calling the cops on the person pointing it out, stupid. Mike Gundy exacerbated the problem with his first reaction, and almost cost himself players, not to mention it’s not his first step in it rodeo. None of this is killing free speech. This is all just rebuttal. Which is also free speech.
Just wow! I guess you think the guy who cracked his knuckles had it coming as well.
Its a tough day when you get home from shopping and the wife asks you, what did you get at Costco and you say, well actually, I lost my job.
Don’t know what you’re on about with that one. Doesn’t matter. When society is working best it is self policing. We don’t need laws and cops, we have the ability to say “you, you’re an idiot, don’t like you” as a group. And that’s all this is. People step in it, and the people around them point out that they smell bad. You’re obsession with HOW shows you’re just missing the point. Social media is nothing more than the town square. A place we used to put people in stocks to let everybody know they’re an idiot.
I bet you think youre so smart with that line.
Funny story: Ive working in the operating room since 2005. Its an ongoing joke among OR personnel that masks are worthless. The surgeon wears them primarily to protect himself from being splattered by literal blood and guts.
But please continue to throw that line around like youre such a big shot
Thanks. Very good article.
